Mr. Antione DeShawn “Tutor” Perry, Sr. age 49, passed away on October 24, 2025, in South Bend, Indiana. Born on April 11, 1976, in the same city, Antione was the beloved son of Shirley Faye Brooks and Barry Perry. A proud native of South Bend, Antione attended Clay High School before pursuing a career as a skilled tradesman. He found his calling in carpentry and was known for his craftsmanship in building yard fencing, patio decks, and performing plumbing work. His hands-on expertise and willingness to help made him a trusted figure in his community. Whether it was a call for trade work or assistance with dog breeding, his favorite hobby. Antione never hesitated to lend a hand. Breeding dogs was more than just a pastime for Antione; it was a passion he took great pride in. Friends and family knew they could count on him not only for his skill, but also for his dedication and reliability. His generosity extended beyond his work. He was a devoted nephew to his Aunt Doris McGee, often cooking her breakfast and helping with household chores without being asked. Antione’s love for sports ran deep. He was a supporter of Notre Dame and a lifelong Boston Celtics fan. His Loyalty to his teams reflected the same steadfastness he showed to those around him.
He leaves behind eight children: Daontrenique Perry, Antione Perry Jr., Heaven Perry, Damon Carter, Diva Perry, Amali (David) Perry-Chapman, Talaysia Gillespie and Daisha Perry. He also leaves 12 cherished grandchildren: Cor’tavious Agnew, Av’ionna and A'Vonn Ester-Agnew, Dallas Perry, Dakota Perry, Amelia Chapman, Juelz, Amira, Zaiden, Armani, Ka'Marion and Zirion Perry.
He is preceded in death by his oldest daughter: Sa’sha Agnew, his father: Barry Perry, Grandmother: Rosella Brooks, Grandfather: Charlie Nelson, Aunt: Erenstine McGee, Uncle Ronld McGee and Damon Comer, and Great- Aunts: Mary Poindexter and Ertha Gavin; and his cousin Anthony McGee.
Antione memory will be carried on by many loving family members including Mother Shirley Faye Brooks Brothers: David Brooks, Sister Marquita Perry, Living aunts: are Doris McGee, Alice McGee, Brenda McGee, Mary Flowers, Uncles: Hosie McGee, Richard McGee and Jeffery Brooks. He was married to former wife: Lakrisha Perry and leaves behind a special friend Danielle Marshall and best friend til’ the end David Reid.
Known affectionately as “Tutor”, Antione has a signature farewell that left an impression on everyone he encountered. “1lovetutor!!” It was more than just words, it was an expression of warmth and unity he brought into every relationship. May the memory of Antione Deshawn “Tutor” Perry bring comfort to all who knew him. Celebration of will be Saturday November 8, 2025 at 2:30 with a viewing one-hour prior at laymen Chapel 303 S.
