Bishop Edward McCray Obituary

Bishop Edward McCray 75, of South Bend, IN was born on September 26, 1947 to the union of Quinton Lee and Eureka McCray in Wynn, AR. He graduated from Harrison High School where he received his formal education. After High School he worked many jobs providing for his family. He would later retire from Logan Center where he worked as a paraprofessional. In 2007 he felt the call to launch his own ministry where he served as the Founder and Senior Pastor of Mountain Top Faith Apostolic Church for over 15 years with his wife, First Lady Janice McCray at his side. Prior to starting his ministry he served as Deacon and later ordained as a Minister at Faith Apostolic Temple under the leadership of Bishop Eddie L Miller Sr for many years. Bishop McCray found his soulmate Janice and married her on December 29, 1977; the lovebirds would marry at her parent's home. Bishop McCray was blessed with a total of six children. Three children with his current union: DeWanda Clark, Kevin (Melody) McCray and Edward (Seianna) McCray Jr. Along with three loving children from a previous union: Tony McCray, Felicia (Micheal) McCray and Edward McCray Jr. . He heard the call and answered, ministry was his passion. During his years of ministries, he developed many lasting relationships throughout the city with Pastors and Community Leaders. He loved hearing his favorite songs "May the works I've done speak for me." & "Just Another Day". Bishop McCray would be a spiritual father to many people, leaving a lasting impressions. He had a smile that would warm a room and guidance that spoke of his wisdom. On October 27, 2022 Bishop found rest at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, IN surround by his loving family. He is survived by his Wife of 45 years, Janice McCray, Children: Lisa (Michael) McCray of L.A., Dewanda Clark of South Bend, IN; Kevin (Melody) McCray of Las Vegas.; and Pastor Edward (Seianna) McCray Jr., of South Bend, IN; one twin brother Edgar McCray of Memphis, Tennessee, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons Tony McCray and Edward McCray. Five sisters: Pinkie McCray Jones, Estelle McCray Currie, Pauline McCray, Jewel McCray and Minnie Lee McCray Mars. Three brothers Grady McCray, Detroy McCray, LD McCray. A Celebration of life in the Bishop's honor will take place on Monday November 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM with a viewing one-hour prior at 10 AM.
