Daeonna L. Crumbley

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Daeonna Lanae Crumbley, age 33, on July 16, 2026. Though her time with us was far too short, the love, kindness, and light she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Daeonna was born on July 31, 1992, in South Bend, Indiana, to the union of LaTonya Howell and Denottus Crumbley. She graduated from Clay High School with the Class of 2010 and later attended Ivy Tech Community College.

Daeonna was a faithful, hardworking, and dedicated employee at Memorial Hospital and Help At Home. She found purpose in caring for others, but her compassion extended far beyond her profession. She had a servant's heart and a genuine love for people. To Daeonna, there were no strangers, only friends she had not yet met.

She was the heart behind countless family gatherings and outings, always planning events and making sure everyone felt included. Her generosity knew no limits. Whether it was packing lunch bags to distribute to those experiencing homelessness or simply showing up whenever someone needed her, Daeonna gave freely of herself without expecting anything in return.

If you called, she came. If you needed encouragement, she had it. If you needed love, she gave it unconditionally.

Being a big sister was one of Daeonna's greatest joys. She embraced that role with unwavering love, guidance, and protection. She treasured her siblings beyond measure, and together they proudly called themselves "The Fab Five." Her family meant everything to her, and if any child in the family wanted something, Daeonna would somehow make the time to make it happen. She was everyone's biggest supporter and one of life's greatest encouragers.

Daeonna's greatest pride and deepest love was her only child, LaRiyah Givens, whom she adored with all her heart. She also shared a loving life with her devoted partner, Durell Givens, creating countless cherished memories together.

Friendship was another gift Daeonna treasured. She remained close with her beloved travel crew from middle and high school Myiah, Stephanie, Ronette, Carneisha, and Robert. Their bond stood the test of time and was a testament to the loyalty and love she poured into every relationship.

Daeonna leaves to cherish her precious memory, her daughter, LaRiyah Givens; her siblings: Damarcus Crumbley, Danaysha Beasly, Damia Howell-Bell, Daniyah Crumbley, Isheka Crumbley, Demerius Crumbley, Denottus Crumbley, Nancy Crumbley, Williettia Crumbley, Mikayla Crumbley, and Sanedra Crumbley. She was an incredibly proud aunt to two beautiful children, Lexington Crumbley and Legend Sargent, who brought immense joy to her life. She also leaves to cherish her memory her aunts: Michelle Howell, LaTasha (Smith) Kenny, Quitina Smith, Tanisha Broadnax, and Erica Broadnax; her great-aunts: Doris McGee, Alice McGee, Mary Ann Flowers, and Shirley Brooks; her uncles: Terrance King and George Smith; her great-uncles: Hosie McGee, Richard McGee, and Jeffery Brooks; her grandmothers: Brenda McGee and Deborah; her great-grandmother, Elizabeth Howell; her favorite family "Lit Crew," Tarikka Miller and Terrance McGee; along with a host of beloved cousins, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives she touched.

Daeonna was preceded in death by her grandfather, Allen Howell; and her great-grandparents, Charles Howell, Willie Crumbley, Thelma Crumbley, and Rosella Brooks.

To know Daeonna was to know joy. She was truly a ray of sunshine whose smile could brighten even the darkest day. Her infectious laughter, generous spirit, and unwavering love touched countless lives. She made people feel seen, valued, and loved simply by being herself.

No matter what challenge someone was facing, Daeonna would gently remind them, "It's going to be ok." Somehow, hearing those words from her made you believe it. And with her signature smile, she would often say, "We lit!"a phrase that perfectly captured the joy, energy, and love she carried everywhere she went.

Although our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing that the love she gave will never fade. Her beautiful spirit lives on through the memories she created, the lives she touched, and the legacy of kindness she leaves behind. Your love was genuine. Your heart was selfless. Your smile was unforgettable. Your presence was a gift. This is not goodbye Dae, it is simply, "See you later." Until we meet again, your light will continue to shine in each of us, and your memory will be treasured forever.
