The Honorable Life of Daphne Denise Vaughn

Daphne Vaughn, at 70 years of age, gained her wings on May 26, 2026. She was born on September 18, 1955, in Arkansas. Her family later relocated to South Bend, Indiana, where she attended LaSalle High School alongside her phenomenal siblings.

Daphne's calling in life was caring for family, friends, and loved ones. She believed strongly in God, gave her life to Him, and was blessed through prayer and faith. She was known for her loving spirit, her strength, and her unforgettable personality.

Notre Dame football held a special place in her heart. She loved playing Bingo and enjoyed spending time at Four Winds Casino. Most importantly, her family was her greatest joy.

Her nieces and nephews became like her own children and remained close to her throughout her life.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jesse Taylor and David Vaughn; nieces Anika (Anthony) Vaughn of Battle Creek, MI and Martina Vaughn, nephews Omar Lee, Tarez (Kelli/Kueen Dior Vaughn), Curtis Lee, and Dewan “Wootie” Bush; sister Ramona Updyke; and uncle Louis (Sandy) and a special cousin Tangela Brown of Chicago, IL.

Daphne was preceded in death by her parents, Cornellia “Bigma” Vaughn and Derry “Big Daddy” Vaughn; brothers Derry “Bucci” Vaughn, Bernester Brown, and Tyrone “Buster” Vaughn; sisters Verle Lee and Sharon Vaughn; and nephew Clarence “Diallo” Lee.

A Celebration of Life in her honor will take place on Saturday June 6, 2026 at 11AM Laymen Chapel CME Church with a viewing one-hour prior. Arrangements have been entrusted to www.boydandsonfuneralhome.com where condolences may be shared.
