Mr. David Harper (83) of Valparaiso, IN entered eternal rest with his father on Sunday May 2, 2021 surrounded by his wife of 21 years and his loving family.
David was born in a wooden cabin to the union of Floyd and Ruth Harper on November 23, 1937 in Brookville, IN. After graduating from Fairview High School, he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on November 23, 1966. After relocating to the Phoenix area, along with his parents and siblings, he eventually retired from the State of Arizona Highway Dept. as a Road Inspector. David enjoyed fast cars, speed boats and wouldn’t stay idle unless there was a Phoenix Suns game on. He was the proud owner of two corvettes, two speed boats and worked every day his health permitted. He was always in motion. David married Dottie on July 27, 2000 and treated her children as his own. He was devoted to his wife and in recent years was always helping his son-in-law with projects around the house and working on his cars until he became ill from Covid-19 in February of this year.
Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle and a friend to so many lives to cherish his memory: Wife Dorothy Harper, five children: Brad (Pam) Erickson, Anna Sadler, Judi (Darren) Serhal, Kathy (Rick) Clement and Tim (Tomi) Collier; seven Grandchildren; numerous Great-Grand Children, One sister Debbie Stone, her beloved children, Amanda E. Hendrix & Christy Escobedo and a brother Don Harper. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and grandparents.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday May 6, 2021 at 12 noon, with a viewing one-hour prior at Living Word Sanctuary, 737 N SR 149 Valparaiso, IN 46385.
