Deanna Gene Thatcher: A Life Well-Lived, A Puzzle Well-Solved
Deanna Gene Thatcher, born August 29th, 1990 in Mesa, Arizona, left this world at 34 – probably rolling her eyes at the idea of anyone getting sentimental about her like this. But if there was ever a life worth celebrating, it was hers.
She approached life the way she approached her favorite puzzles – patiently, cleverly, and with a fierce determination to make everything fit. Whether it was a complicated problem, a family gathering, or an entire group chat spiraling out of control, she was the one who could piece it all together.
A proud resident of Plymouth, Indiana, Deanna was a devoted (and unapologetically firm) mother of two incredible kids, Brayden and Arianna, who carry her fire, her wit, her strength, and her sense of humor. She was a connector of people, a walking movie library, and a fluent speaker of film quotes. If you knew her, chances are she made you laugh, made you think, and made you watch Predator or Star Wars at least once.
She had the heart of a poet–though she’d never admit it–and the soul of a warrior, much like her father, Keith, with whom she is now reunited in peace. Their bond was unshakable in life, and now renewed in death.
She leaves behind her two children–Brayden and Arianna, her mother–Teala, her step-mother–Charlotte, and her 4 sisters–Christia, Mallory, Megan, and Jordan–each of whom carries a piece of her spark. She believed in love–bold, honest, unrelenting love–and held her family together with sheer will and a stubborn streak that could move mountains.
She gave her all to everything she did: parenting, puzzle-solving, midnight movie marathons, and making people feel truly seen. Her legacy lives on in the little moments: perfectly timed quotes, inside jokes, long talks, and that deep, unshakable sense of being loved.
The world feels a little less vibrant without her in it–but Deanna wouldn’t want us being sappy. She’d want us to keep going, keep laughing, keep watching the movies that made her heart beat faster–and most of all, keep the family puzzle going.
May the Force be with you, Deanna. Always.
