Mr. Evans Davis Jr. 78, of South Bend, IN, entered Heaven’s gates on Saturday December 12, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born to the union of Evans Davis Sr. and Laura Davis October 21, 1942 in Shaw, Mississippi. He graduated from Clay-Washington High School in South Bend, IN. Mr. Davis, or “The Coach of the South Bend Fire”, as he would call himself, enjoyed basketball, tennis, and considered himself a pool shark. Family Man, loyal, and debonair are just a few words to describe Evans. He enjoyed his career employed with Clark Equipment for many years. He was employed with Goodwill Industries where he worked in the electrical department for over fifteen years, lending his skills to help provide jobs and opportunities for those less fortunate.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: Four beautiful children, Carlos Davis and Deshawn Davis both of South Bend, IN; Terence Harris of Plainfield, IN and Tearsa Broadenax of Indianapolis, IN. Eighteen Plus Grandchildren, Nineteen plus Great-Grandchildren; Four Siblings: Diane Perry and Henry Davis Sr. both of South Bend, Debra (Ruben) Wright of Stafford, VA, and Fred McCoy of Bastrop, Louisiana. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and a Special Granddaughter Kenyatta Davis.
Mr. Evans Davis Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and Four Siblings: Fred Davis, Leon Davis, Thomas Davis and Robert Davis.
Services will be held Friday, December 18, 2020 At Laymen Chapel CME Church 303 S. Kenmore St South Bend, IN at 2:30pm with a viewing one hour prior. FACE MASK REQUIRED.
