Today, we come together to honor a life in celebration of Freddie Earl Eiland. We come to honor a man who has a special place in the hearts of so many. And although Freddie has left this world, he will live through us all forever. Freddie began his life's journey on Sunday, October 16th, in 1960, and it was then that on Saturday, June 6th, 2026, Freddie Earl Eiland, age 65, passed peacefully in his home with his wife by his side on. Freddie was born to the union of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Porter and Minnie Louise Eiland Sr., both of whom preceded him in death. A brother, Darryl Eugene Eiland who also proceeded him in death.

Freddie was united in marriage to  Julie A. Frick - Eiland. He is survived by four children, Jacqueline A. N. Eiland and Justin L. Eiland both of, Ind; Jamal Eiland of MI., Destiny L. Collins; and 4 grandchildren; Four brothers Donald R. Eiland of Ind, James P. Eiland Jr. of ILL;  James P. (Toni) Eiland of Ind, Vincent (Treva) Waller of SC; two sisters Donzella "Niecy" Fox and Ajèe Wells both of FL and a special friend and supporter Allen Steed, along with a host of family and friends.

Freddie lived life full of expressions. He loved hard and stood strong on protecting his family. By trail learning self-taught adulthood responsibilities as a young man, he joined the Airforce to help his mother care for his younger siblings.

After being honorable discharged from the Air Force, Freddie entered into the workforce as a CNA, where he worked for forty-two years in the nursing field working side by nurses and training cna's the skillful trade. During football seasons, Freddie, being a proud Noter Dame fan, would work at Noter Dame as a caterer, showing his love and support to fellow fan goers. 

Many people, when speaking of Freddie, would describe him as kind and giving. And while stepping into that leadership role, he thought that it was his place to also mentor his nephews and young cousins who still to this day look up to him.

Freddie was also born with natural gifts and talent in sports and loved basketball, although he was a great baseball player. His dream was to play in the NBA. Mimicking his game and style after his favorite player is Dr. J (Julius Erving). But it was short-lived due to him suffering a knee injury sliding into second base while playing baseball. He also found joy in the escape of his love for music. According to his brother Vincent, who remarks in reminiscent, that his favorite music group growing up was Slave, adding to his plethora of music favorites, the Average White Band, Tupac, and many more where he would spend hours outside listening to them in his own private concert.

Freddie also dabbled a little bit with his artistic side as well. When thinking about it. We often times would rememise about the self-portrait drawing that resembled a black Gilligan.

So today, we didn't come to mourn Freddie with weeping hearts. We come to celebrate his life with joy. Yes, Freddie will be missed deeply and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. So as we each carry a piece of his spirit, his laughter, and his memory with us, let's remember the good times. He will be missed more than words can express—but never forgotten.
