Helen Marie Moore (Allen)

Helen Moore (Allen) 70 of South Bend, In was born to the union of Willie Moore and Bessie Gray on July 1, 1955 in Badersville, MO. The family would later relocate to Berrien Center, MI calling it home. In 1977 Helen graduated from Berrien Springs High School. Helen met and married Johnnie L. Allen with whom she shared many memories with.  

She was a remarkable hard worker and always providing for her family. Helen was a joy to be around; family was very important to her, and she always put family first. During birthdays and holidays, she made everyone feel special. She had a bubbly personality. Helen was a sincere, loving and caring person, each person who knew her had their own special bond.

Her legacy lives on through her loving daughters: Eula (Greg) Guidry of Gastonia, NC and Nicole Allen of Arlington, TX. She was loved and adored by her grandchildren: Brandon Montgomery, Aaron Smith, China Lorenzo, O’Lanna Johnson, Ananda Williams, Jacoby McCain, Shaniya Troope, and London Dodson. She leaves 14 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by her siblings: Millie Carter of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Ruthie Holliday of South Bend, IN, Danny (Kolleen) Moore of Dowagiac, MI, Missionary Patricia (Evangelist Richard Plowden) of Dayton, OH, and Lora Moore of Berrien Center, MI.  

On January 6, 2026, Helen gained her wings to reunite with her loving family waiting on the other side. Parents: Willie Moore and Bessie Gray, two sisters: Karen (Moore) Perkins and Mary Lou Moore, one brother: J.C. Moore, two nephews Terry Moore and Craig Moore. A celebration of life in Helen’s Honor will take place on Thursday January 15, 2026 at 11 AM with a Viewing one-hour prior. Services will take place at Laymen Chapel CME Church 303 S. Kenmore St. South Bend, IN 46613 with Pastor Plowden Officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to www.boydandsonfuneralhome.com where condolences may be shared.
