Jonathon Vashon Johnson was born on March 30, 1962 to John Clarence Johnson and Sarah Lee Johnson at Providence Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He was the oldest of five siblings. He grew up on the west side of Detroit where he had a love for anything related to sports. He attended Highland Park High School where he played basketball on the school's basketball team.
John was a very optimistic and a sharp dresser. He cared about fashion and how he presented himself to strangers and setting an example for the ones close to him who he caught slacking. You had to be dressed up to par to roll with him. He was easy going and free spirited, but very street smart and witty. He would give his last to the ones he loved and wouldn't think twice about it. He would light up the room with his presence and his smile would make the room even brighter.
He relocated from his hometown of Detroit to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he would use his charm and people skills to become a local salesman. Although he lived in Philadelphia, he would frequently travel back to Michigan to visit his "Shorty" Sarah, his mother who was always the highlight of his trip while spending time with the rest of his family.
He leaves to cherish in his memories his mother, Sarah Johnson, Brothers; Anthony Johnson, Ivan Johnson, Andre (Tanya) Johnson. Two sisters; Andrea Johnson, Tanae (John) Duty. His only daughter Erika Bouttry, her mother Katrenia, 3 granddaughters, Naijah T., Destiny and Dynasty B. Special friend, Glenda Floyd and a host of relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father John Clarence Johnson and brother Kareem Abdul Jabarr Johnson.
