Joe Simmons, born to the union of Edward Simmons and JoeElla Singleton on April 4, 1959 in Chicago, IL. He was a Graduate of Manley H.S. and attend Malcom X College. Joe relocated to Indiana and called it home for many yaers . He was a gifted carpenter working in various areas of construction: demolition, building and site management. Most importantly he enjoyed building and supporting his beautiful family.
Mr. Simmons truly loved his aquarium and took pride in caring for his fish. Joe was a jokester, he had jokes for days and a smile that would light up the room. Joe had many favorite scriptures that he kept close to his heart. Joe made it a point to set a foundation of faith for the generations after him. Joe was a devout Christian and had a close walk with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom he reunited with in the early morning on March 15, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He will be missed and cherished by many, Including his Life Partner of over twenty-five years, Tasha Wallace; Five Beautiful Children: Climintine Wallace of South Bend, IN, Bruce Evans of Elkhart, IN; Laura Simmons of South Bend, IN, Latasha Simmons of Chicago, IL, and Jacky (Krystal) Simmons of South Bend, IN. Ten Grandchildren; Six Siblings: Ronald (Rockie) Gates and Luella (Anthony) Hunt of Chicago, IL, Betty (James) McCool of South Bend, IN, Thomastine (Gregory) Parker of Chicago, IL, Ricky King and Jackie King of Texas and a host of other loving family and friends.Our Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather, and loving Companion was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Simmons and Joella Singleton, Grandparents, and three siblings: Donald Gates, James King and his twin sister Debbie Faye Simmons.A Celebration of Life will take place 11AM with a viewing one-hour prior on Saturday March 27, 2021 at Greater St. Mathews Church South Bend, followed by burial at Mt.
