Kathy Jo Fleming

On December 27,1964 Mrs. Kathy Jo Fleming, 56 was born to the union of Ernest and Irene Williams and was raised in South Bend, IN. At a young age she attended St. John Missionary Baptist and later became a member of New Horizon Outreach Ministries for over thirty years under the leadership of Drs. Dennis and Debra Givens.

In 1983 Kathy graduated from Washington High School where she was on the Pom Pom dance and Cheerleading team. Shortly after High School she married Timothy Brown and they began many happy memories together. Kathy Jo was dedicated and had a driven personality that landed her a 24 year career working for United Airlines Washington Desk, where she booked flights for U.S. Congress. She made an impact on all her coworkers and customers.

Despite her health issues her faith never failed, and she would often pour her encouragement, love and her caring spirit into others making the world a better place. She was a mama bear who didn’t play when it came to her babies, working hard and always putting them first. She loved her grandchildren to the moon and back.

Later in Life Kathy Jo was blessed to find love again, she married Leon Donell Fleming of South Field, MI on September 21, 2009 and called Michigan home.  Kathy’s warm unforgettable smile made everyone a friend and she had a special place for every person she came across.

She leaves her loving husband to cherish her memory: Leon Donell Fleming of South Field, MI. Four beautiful children: Taulise Javonne Brown-Wallace of Indianapolis, IN Tory Phillips of Tampa, FL; TaSh’e (Dominic) Dunlap of Lima, Ohio; and Tobias Bobbitt of South Field, MI. Five stepchildren whom she always loved as her own: Leon (Courtney) Flemming, LaDietra (Daniel) Mason, Dalonda (David) Teague, Mashon Flemming and Brandon Tucker. Eight Grandchildren: Jabari, Myles, Kaylee, Dj, Noah, Kobe, Cannon and Auston. Five Sibling: Glenn Sr. (Ida); Larry Williams, Michael Williams, Phyllis Williams, and Anthony Williams all of South Bend, IN.    

On December 1, 2021, she gained her wings reunited with her Father Ernest and Mother Irene Williams, Sisters:  Carolyn Turner of Flint, MI and Betty Newburn of Memphis, TN and brothers Curtis Williams Sr. of Killeen, TX and Ernest Williams Jr. of Akron, OH all of whom preceded her in death. 

A Celebration of Life will take place 11:00 AM on Saturday December 18, 2021, with a Viewing one-hour prior at New Horizon Outreach Ministries. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to www.Boydandsonfuneralhome.com where condolences may be shared.
