Kevin Dikes Obituary

On Wednesday March 3rd 2021, Kevin Renaldo Dikes Sr, loving father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 61 at St Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka, IN surrounded by all of his children. Kevin was born on March 7th 1959 in South Bend, IN to Charles Easton and the late Cleophas (Edwards) Dikes.  He graduated from John Adams High School in 1977 and later enlisted in the United States Army.  Following his military career, he decided to pursue his education in accounting.  He practiced accounting for over 20 years, and when he no longer practiced in a corporate setting, he prepared personal taxes for family and close friends.  Later making his home in Mishawaka, IN, he still considered the Southeast Side of South Bend, also fondly referred to as the “Zone,” where he grew up, his stomping grounds.

Kevin never met a stranger, and could walk up to anyone and spark up a conversation like he had known them all of his life.  In the same sense, he could never go anywhere without someone stopping to speak to him, as he was very well known and loved by so many.  You couldn’t end a conversation with him without learning something new, he was constantly dropping little gems of knowledge and instilling wisdom in anyone he spoke to.  He wanted everyone to become better versions of themselves every day.

Kevin had many skills, passions, and hobbies, but one of his most enjoyable ones was cooking.  Not only did he enjoy cooking for himself, but he especially enjoyed cooking for others.  That was one of his ways of expressing his love, through his cooking.  He could bake, broil, fry, etc., but most people loved his barbecue, and when you saw him outside on the grill, you knew it was going to be a good day.

Kevin had many passions, his absolute favorite was spending time with family, and it was very important to him.  He loved being able to spend time with his children and grandchildren.  He cherished every moment that he got to spend with his grandchildren and never wanted to miss any of their milestones.  Just as much as he loved to spend time with his grandchildren, all of them loved being with “Popi.” Kevin was a biological father to five, but was “Pops” to so many others.  He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, and made a big impact in so many lives.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Kevin is survived by his loving children: Rosalyn Dikes of South Bend, IN, Kendra Dikes of Indianapolis, IN, Terrence Lula of South Bend, IN, Argenia Dikes of Mishawaka, IN, and Kevin Dikes Jr of Mishawaka, IN; his father, Charles Easton of South Bend, IN; a maternal sister, Gina Dikes of Evansville, IN, and a host of paternal siblings.

Kevin was preceded in death by his grandmother, Argenia Watson, his mother Cleophas (Edwards) Dikes, and three maternal brothers; DeWayne Pack, Donnie Dikes, and Kenneth Dikes.

A Memorial Service  with Military Honors will take place 1PM on Saturday March 20, 2021 at Greater St. Mathew Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to www.boydandsonfuneralhome.com
