Obituary
Remembering Lee Brown, Jr.
Lee Brown, Jr., a brave and peaceful soul, was born on July 23, 1939, in Davisboro, Georgia, to the late Tobe and Loubia Brown. He was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, shortly before his 86th birthday. His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 67 years, Lizzie Brown; and his beloved children: Ola Mae (Roy) Turner, and Timothy (Catrice) Brown, all of South Bend, Indiana; Jimmy (Angela) Brown of Bunnell, Florida; and Sonya Brown of Indianapolis, Indiana. He is also survived by his sister, Burena Hicks of Davisboro, Georgia; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, church family, and cherished friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Frazier; his siblings, Lola Mae Parker, Lois Woods, Willie Brown, and Johnny Brown; and his great-grandson, Eian Morse.
"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die..." —Ecclesiastes 3:1–2 (KJV)
A Life of Dedication and Faith
Although Lee only completed a sixth-grade education, his wisdom, determination, and deep faith led him to build a life of purpose. In 1965, he relocated his young family from Georgia
to South Bend, Indiana, seeking greater opportunities and a brighter future. He began working at AM General before moving on to careers in transportation, including United Limo, Indiana Motor Bus, B&W Charters, and Transpo, where he retired after 29 years of dedicated service. Lee was an ambitious yet humble man—gentle, prayerful, and deeply devoted to his Christian faith. He served faithfully as an Elder at Emanuel Deliverance Church of God in Christ for many years. He also volunteered at Hope Rescue Mission, where he ministered to others, sharing the Word of God with compassion and conviction. Outside of his ministry and work, Lee enjoyed traveling and spending time with his loved ones. One of his favorite pastimes was visiting casinos with his wife and anyone willing to join them—always embracing life’s simple joys with gratitude and laughter.
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy
ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." —Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)
Legacy of Faith
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness..." —2 Timothy 4:7–8 (NIV) "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them." —Revelation 14:13 (KJV) "Do not let your hearts be troubled... My Father’s house has many rooms... I am going there to prepare a place for you. —John 14:1–3 (NIV)
Lee Brown, Jr. leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, selfless service, and enduring love. His life was a testimony of God's grace, and his memory will forever be cherished.
