Marilyn T. Newbon-Harrell of Lithonia, GA, departed this life on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 62 years and 6 days old. Marilyn was born December 24, 1961, in South Bend, IN. She was the eldest of 5 children raised in a loving and nurturing home by her parents, Mother Emma and stepfather, Apostle Charles L. King Sr. She graduated from South Bend LaSalle High School in 1981, where she was a standout track star. She received an associate degree from Holy Cross College in 1983. She relocated to Lithonia, GA in 1991 and married the love of her life, Van Harrell, on March 31, 2003. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Van Harrell; parents, Mother Emma and Apostle Charles L. King, Sr.; sisters, Phyllis Hogan of Indianapolis, IN and Cynthia (Kenton) Stephens of Atlanta, GA and a brother, Pastor Charles L. (Beverly) King III of South Bend, IN a bonus brother, E'Manuel "Louis" Hogan Jr.; nieces Karen Marshall of Fort Wayne, IN, Jennifer Stephens of Atlanta, GA and nephews E'Manuel L. Hogan IV, Phillip Hogan both of Indianapolis,I N, Joshua Stephens of Sacramento, CA, Charles L. King IV and Dinari McLean-Gordon both of South Bend, IN; great-nieces Iyanna Marshall and Aniya Marshall of Fort Wayne, IN and one great-nephew Phillip "PJ" Hogan, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN, a very special goddaughter "Gabby" of Covington, GA along with a host of extended family members and friends. Marilyn cherished an unbreakable friendship with Monica Parker of Villa Rica, GA, and two special sister-friends, Linda Towns of Ellenwood, GA, and Nina McKee of Covington, GA. Marilyn took her position as the eldest sibling seriously. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of the family at every gathering. Her carefree spirit and bright light will be passed on to many generations. Funeral Service will take place at Life Changers Church Saturday Jan. 13, 2024; 11AM Visitation 12:30 Service with Burial to follow.
