Michael Anthony “Mike” Allen, 60, passed away May 11th, 2026. Born on June 13, 1965, to Christine Allen and Robert Lee Burton, Mike carried with him a strong work ethic, deep love for family, and loyalty to those he cared about throughout his entire life.
Mike was a proud graduate of Central High School and proudly considered himself a Blazer for life. He spent the majority of his career working in the tire industry, where he became known for his dedication, dependability, and hardworking spirit. His stepfather, Willie C. Barnett, who also preceded him in death, played an important role in shaping the man Mike became by teaching him how to change tires and, more importantly, what it meant to work hard and provide for a family. Through Willie, Mike also gained two additional sisters, Jerri Barnett of Michigan and Terri Barnett Coleman of Michigan. Mike’s grandmother, Marie Allen, who also preceded him in death, was a constant and loving presence throughout his childhood and remained very special to him throughout his life. For most of his career, Mike worked at Monteith Tire, where he built lifelong friendships and considered his coworkers family. Even after leaving the company, he continued to cherish those relationships and remained connected to many of the people he worked alongside.
On August 25, 2001, Mike married the love of his life, Dawn Allen. Together they built a life centered around family, laughter, and love. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Dawn Allen; his children, Jammie Chante Allen of Mishawaka; Devin J. Jones of Elkhart; Michael “Mikey” Allen of Illinois; Jake Allen and fiancée Sydney Haigwood of Elkhart; Char’Nie Annmarie Allen of Elkhart; Leigha Christine Allen of Elkhart; and Chaz Michael Allen of Elkhart. Mike also leaves behind his siblings, Marshall (Tomala) Allen of South Bend; Kristi (Bruce) Barnett Dudley of Elkhart; Haster McBride of Elkhart; Regina (Rod) Roberson of Elkhart; Damia Lee of Elkhart; and Robin Ingram of Raleigh, North Carolina.
The true lights of Mike’s life were his grandchildren: Leilani Anderson, Lorenzo Anderson, and Apollo Allen, all of Elkhart. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with them and watching them grow. He was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Barnett; his father, Robert Lee Burton; his stepfather, Willie C. Barnett; his grandmother, Marie Allen; and his brothers, Damien Lee and Raji Sheppard.
Mike was a devoted football fan who loved both college football and the NFL. He faithfully supported Notre Dame Fighting Irish and remained a lifelong fan of the Washington Commanders — though those closest to him knew he never fully accepted the name change from the Redskins. Mike will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his loyalty to family and friends, his sense of humor, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Arrangements have been entrusted to www.boydandsonfuneralhome.com where condolences may be shared.
