There are some who bring a light so great to the world, that even after they have gone the light remains.
Mrs.Willie Evie Boyce, 77 years old, passed away Monday, June 6, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 28, 1944, in Osceola, Arkansas to the late Alton and Jeffie D. Harris. On January 28, 1963, in Chicago Illinois, Willie married the love of her life, Joseph Virgil Boyce. She was a faithful member of Living Water Church of God In Christ for many years where she served on the Mothers Board. She went on to join True Life Ministries pastored by Will and Racquel Harris, where she served as the church mother.
She loved the Lord with her whole heart - she prayed diligently and led by example exemplifying peace and love wherever she was. Willie was gifted with many talents and skills. She worked for the South Bend Tribune, for over 20 years, before retiring. Her love for cooking was known by many between her time at J&W Taste of New Orleans and The Farmers Market. One of Willie’s favorite things to do was to play UNO every Sunday with her son (Keenen), daughter-in-law (Kaylee), and family. She brought competitive spirits and loved being able to take home the crown as the reigning weekly Uno champion. She enjoyed the company of her favorite fur-grandbaby Avocado whom she nicknamed “human dog”. Above all Willie was known for the unconditional love that she extended to everyone she came in contact with. A beautiful soul knowing nothing more than how to love and serve others. Along with her parents, Willie is preceded in death by her husband (Joseph V. Boyce); four sons William (Cheryl) Boyce, Paul, Ricky, and Billy Boyce, and two brothers Albert (Arma) Harris, and Alton (Irma) Harris. Leaving to cherish her memories are her daughter Rhonda Boyce, and two sons Joseph (Kayla) Boyce, and Keenen (Kaylee) Boyce. Four sisters Bettie (Eugene) Williams, Frankie Thomas, both of South Bend and Geraldine (Roy) Kann of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Shirley Lee. Two brothers Larry Lee and Charles Lee of Indianapolis, Indiana. A loving host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life will be Saturday June 11, 2022 at 11AM with a Viewing One-hour prior at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to www.boydandsonfuneralhome.com
