Nelson Cotton Sr.

Mr. Nelson (Bill) Cotton Sr. passed away unexpectedly on February 21, 2025 at St. Joseph Hospital at the age of 60. He was born on July 8,1964 in Macon, Mississippi. Nelson attended Lasalle High School. He was employed at Goodwill for some time. He enjoyed his life to the fullest, his smile and loud voice would brighten up the room whenever he walked in. To know him was to know that he was going to dress to impress and he loved a good suit and hat combo.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Michael Brown of Milwaukee, WI, Dajuan Cotton, Nelson Cotton Jr. Shadrach Hill and Car’myia Cotton all of South Bend, IN. Nine grandchildren: Dai’Juanna Cotton, Kiya Cotton, Twins Dajuan & Dajon Cotton, and Kashton Cotton all of South Bend, IN. Mikiah Brown, Paris Brown of Milwaukee, WI and Joshua Cotton of Hopkinsville, KY. One great grand Da’Lehja Cotton, four sisters: Brenda Cotton, Mattie Cotton, Anelia Halbert and Tijuanna Halbert all of South Bend, IN. Twenty nieces and nephews: Antwan Avance, Damarcus Halbert, Brittaney Halbert, Ashley Magee, Antonio Avance, Isheka Crumbley, Antwaka Avance, Davina Magee, Teionna Halbert, Shala Harper, Damisha Watford, Denottus Crumbley, Micayla Tyler, Michael Tyler, Derrick Harper Jr., Taleo Halbert, Nancy Halbert, Williettia Crumbley, Kristopher Bonds and Dominque Easton. Along with a host of other family and friends. Those who proceeded him in death include both parents: Nancy and Willie Halbert, daughter Shaunecca Cotton, Sister Scheller (Shelia) Harper, Brother Otha Halbert, granddaughter Tamia Brown, both parental and maternal grandparents, Two Nephews Demarius Halbert and Antonio Avance Jr.  

A Celebration of Life will take place 11AM on Friday March 7, 2025 at Laymen Chapel CME Church 303 S. Kenmore with a viewing one-hour prior. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.   Arrangements are entrusted to www.boydandsonfuneralhome.com where condolence may be shared.
