Nettie M Bates

Mrs. Nettie Mae Bates, 61 affectionately known as “Chance” was born April 24th, 1960 to the union of Frank and Veola Allen in Lilbourn, MO.

At the early age of 12, she accepted Christ in her life. Through many trials and tribulations, she became a Licensed and Ordained Minister in September of 2009 at Heaven Serenity Outreach Ministries Inc. 

Nettie took pride and great pleasure in preaching and teaching the word of God to anyone who had ears and could listen. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her door was always open. Nettie loved cooking and proudly wore the hat of “Best” cook in the family. She loved playing games with the grandchildren and loved the summer cookouts. One of her best loves was singing and she sang until her last day on earth, June 3, 2021. Nettie was not only a homemaker, but the strong rock that held the Bates together. 

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: Husband of 44 years, Harry Bates Jr.; Five beautiful Children Harry Bates III and Tara Conner both of Elkhart, In; Lashonda Bates of South Bend, In; Aireus (Errol) Sherrod of Gary, In; and Mosha (Fredrick) Davis of Atlanta, Ga; A God Daughter: Santana Love of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Seven Grand-Children; Five Great-Grand Children. Two Sisters: Carolyn (Curtis) Hamilton of Memphis, TN and Thelma (Craig) McKenzie of Elkhart, In and a Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, One Brother Terry Conner Sr.; Two Sisters: Mercy Allen and Shirly Burton.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday June 11, 2021 at 12 Noon with a viewing one-hour prior at Open Gate Praise and Deliverance 137 Division St. Elkhart, IN 46515. Funeral Arrangements have been Entrusted to www.boydandsonfuneralhome.com where condolences may be shared.
