Robert (Bobby) Leon Ford 91, was called home by the Lord on Tuesday December 10, 2019 at Memorial Hospital surround by his family. Bobby was born August 3, 1928 in South Bend, IN to the union of Jasper Charles and Wauneta Haithcox Ford. Robert, affectionately known as “Uncle Bobby”, was a loving father, grandfather and uncle. He was Notre Dame’s Biggest Fan. Robert Ford enjoyed laughing, joking, fishing, playing cards and “Tonk”; he was often the life of the party. He was an excellent bowler and played on several leagues for years. Uncle Bobby especially loved family reunion times.
Bobby Ford was proud to Serve his Country for four years in the United States Marines as a private 1st Class. He enlisted 1948 to 1952 with the United States Marines. After basic training at Camp LeJeune, he was station in Korea with the II Division as a PFC. He enjoyed spending time at the AM VETS and was a lifetime member of the VFW Local 9733 and the ELKS. He was a hard worker at the Honeywell/Bendix Corporation and the Studebaker Museum where retired after many years of service.
Bobby is survived by his Children, Terry (Evette) Ford, Michael (Bonnie) Ford, Tony (Dewanda) Ford all of South Bend, In; Kerry Ford of Mesa, AZ; and Tammy Allen of Milwaukee, Wis.; A Sister: Betty Donaldson of Bowie, MD; a special nephew Charles Stanley Fribbley Sr. of Glen Cove, N.Y.; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Jasper Ford Jr., James Hiram and Charles Stanley; Six Sisters: Martha Ellen Olds, Alene Washington, Marjorie Jones, Maxine Ford, Shirley Dudley and Barbara Fulce. Uncle Bobby will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will take place In Mr. Robert (Bobby) Ford’s Honor on Saturday December 21, 2019 at 12 Noon at Laymen Chapel CME 303 Kenmore St. with a viewing one-hour prior. Arrangements have been entrusted to www.BoydandSonFuneralHome.com
