“Our Big Eastside”

Miss Rae’esah Deen Jones, 31 of South Bend, IN, departed from this life on January 12, 2021. She was born to the union of Dennis Jones and Annette Byrd in Long Beach, CA; December 3 ,1989. During her time in South Bend, IN, she attended John Adams High School. She graduated from Antelope Valley Adult High School in 2009 and continued her studies at Antelope Valley Adult College where she received her Pharmacy Tech Certificate in 2012. Rae’esah enjoyed working in her career as a Pharmacy Tech in Lancaster, CA.  Miss Jones loved cooking, swimming and doing hair, and all her clients loved her.

Rae’esah Jones was affectionately known as “RaRa” to friends and family. Eventually RaRa moved back to South Bend, IN. She was a hard worker, working multiple jobs in the Hotel Industry and Customer Service. Her most notable employment was with Holiday Inn Express, where her presence was loved dearly. RaRa resided on the Eastside of South Bend, where she received her nickname “Big Eastside”.  She was an outspoken person who spoke her mind and was the life of the party. She always brightened everyone’s day.     

“Her Life Lives On”

In life, “Big Eastside” was our angel; in death, she became the miracle that so many lives had been waiting on.  Rae’esah answered the call of humanity and donated her body so others could live. She closed her tired eyes so someone else could open theirs. She had a heart of gold, and now someone else will continue her beat.

RaRa is Survived by her Sister Tamiea Northern-Johnson. Two nieces: Raven Hill and Cirenity Williams of South Bend, IN. One uncle: Ronald Jones of CA, Two Aunts: Naomi (J.C.) Davis and Brenda (Donna) Byrd both of South Bend, IN. Close Cousins: Felisha Davis-Sconiers, Carlos (Christina) Davis and Darkenya Davis of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Zaniya Sconiers and Jabreeh Davis-Martin of South Bend, IN. Jabreeh was more like a brother to her. Rae’esah loved children and treated every else’s as her own. She had three beautiful God children: Kennedy Lee, Kamira and Kenai Diggins of South Bend, IN. God Brother and Sister of the Washington family. She shared a special bond with baby cousins JaeCia Davis and Indiyah Henderson of South Bend, IN. Six Best friends: Latifah Diggins, LC Underwood, Camille Carrell, Cherelle Little, Sharrie Wright and Reneacsha Flowers. Her memory will also be cherished by her Boyfriend Darryl Taylor.  

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Paternal Grandparents Ulice and Para Lee Jones, Maternal Grandparents Eddie Lee and Henrietta Byrd. One Aunt Judy Jones, Two Uncles: Tommy Byrd and JC “Sunny Cool” Davis. Two Cousins Jettawyn Jones and Andre Byrd.   

Funeral Service to take place on January 30, 2021, at 11AM with a viewing one hour prior. Services will take place at Greater St. Mathew Church. Burial at Mt Pleasant Cemetery. Repast at Holiday Express 933. FACE MASKS REQUIRED. Arrangements are entrusted to www.boydandsonfuneralhome.com where condolences may be shared.
