Ruthie Mai Mincy of South Bend, IN, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Monday, March 18, 2024. Ruth Mincy, 91, was born to James and Elizabeth (Spivey) Parker in Henning, Tennessee on November 6,1932. After graduating high school, she moved to South Bend, IN where she met and married Gatson Mincy, her loving husband of 55 years. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, supportive sister, a doting grandmother, loving auntie and caring friend. She enjoyed attending church, traveling, gardening and spending time with her family. She had a beautiful smile and a witty way of bringing laughter to the room. Throughout her life, Ruth was a pillar of strength, faith and wisdom, guiding her children with love, hope and grace. She joined Mt Olive M.B Church, SB, IN under the leadership of the late Pastor Henry L. Giden Sr. She continued to serve at Mt. Olive under the leadership of Pastor Hardy Williams, later becoming a charter member of the Greater New Vision MB Church. She continued to serve on the nurses board and wherever needed at Greater New Vision under the current leadership of Pastor Tyron Lax. She was also a member of the Indiana District Household of Ruth, SB Chapter Indiana Black Expo and SOAR Neighborhood Association.
Ruth’s value of hard work, compassion, and integrity, led her to employment with South Bend Comm. Schools. She worked as a secretary and a teacher’s assistant. She strongly believed in Proverbs 22:6 “train up a child in the way he should go..”. Her commitment to training up a child extended beyond her own family. She began to provide a loving and supportive environment for countless children in her home. She made a lasting impact on the lives of many in her community.
