Tracey Regnia Johnson, 54, of Decatur, Georgia, beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend earned her wings on August 6, 2022. She was born to the union of Leonteen and Sammy Vaughn on October 6, 1967 in South Bend, Indiana. Tracey spent her youth as a resident of the Westside of South Bend, known as The Lake, with her parents and three siblings: Gale Vaughn (South Bend), Mark (Casandra) Vaughn (South Bend), and Bernard Vaughn (South Bend). She graduated from South Bend Washington High in 1986. Where she was involved in Poms and was Football Homecoming Queen. A natural beauty with a giving and kind spirit. Tracey loved working with others. She was passionate about elderly and children with special needs. She followed her passion of being a helper and completed nursing school and earned her license as a Practical Nurse. Her work in nursing involved dialysis care, hospice care, and long-term care.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her children- Demetrius Collins, Braden Johnson, and DeVonte Matkins; her mother- Leonteen Carter Vaughn Henderson; her siblings- Gale, Mark, Bernard (Melissa), Sammy Jr., Tyrone, Sammy David (Christina), and Daryl (Rebekah); nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; along with a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends.
She is preceded in death by: maternal grandparents- Willie and Leana Carter; paternal grandparents- Albert and Myrtle Vaughn; father- Sammy D. Vaughn, Sr. and nephew- Bernard Vaughn, Jr.
Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, August 17 th at Greater St. Mathew Church at noon with viewing starting at 10am. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to www.boydandsonfuneralhome.com
